Beaker and Brush Discussions

Science and art meet half way.

Join us on the second Tuesday of every month for a series of discussions that explore the rich but often overlooked intersections between science and art. Enjoy a drink at the Amsterdam Bar and Hall while listening to presentations from scientists and artists speaking on a variety of topics, then share what you think about what science and art have in common. Attendance is FREE.

Beaker and Brush Discussions are co-sponsored by the Science Museum and the St. Paul Art Crawl.

Humanizing the Machine - Tuesday, June 12, 2012

6:30 p.m.

What does it mean to have a machine that keeps your heart beating? How does an art piece made of machine parts appeal to our humanity? We will explore the innovative, emotional and aesthetic aspects of our complex relationship with technology in a world where the gap between human and machine is narrower than ever before. With Kenneth Rys of Medtronic and Allen Christian from the House of Balls gallery and studio.
