Fossil Leaves
Late Cretaceous Period, Minnesota
P81.12.912

These fossil leaves shaded dinosaurs living on beachfront property in Minnesota nearly 100 million years ago. These leaves are among the few dinosaur-age fossils from Minnesota. They fell into still water near the shore of an ancient seat that covered the western regions of Minnesota. Elizabeth Hajek, an undergraduate student from Macalester College collected these fossils from claypits near New Ulm and studied their preservation for her senior honors thesis!
